HMS REGISTAN
According to the 1968 issue of "British and Dominion Warships of WWII", the "Registan" was a requistioned ship to be employed as an Ocean Boarding Vessel.

She was armed with Anti-Aircraft guns: two 6-inch ones and a few lighter ones.

Designated "F.106" she was launched in 1930,  displaced 5,886 tons,  and was requisitioned in 1940.

According to the book (and this is where a major error creeps in) she was converted to a "Fighter/Catapult" ship in 1943 and returned to her civil owner in 1946.

It is known from a number of sources that HMS Registan was bombed with great loss of life on the 27th of May 1941. The statement in the book about her being converted to a catapult ship is almost certainly an error caused by a typographical mix-up. In the opinion of the site manager for this site it is likely that details from another ship were erroneously recorded in the section for HMS Registan.

Of course with an error such as this, it calls into question all the other information about HMS Registan published in the book British and Dominion Warships of WWII (1968).
